Gucci’s exclusive video by Canadian photographer Petra Collins is dedicated to Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection of eyewear. In it, she transports us on a surreal voyage to the beautiful rural landscapes and interiors of the artist’s native Hungary, sharing with us her memories and places of her childhood; creating a world where everything is not quite at it seems… a window into a rural Hungarian family life soon gives way to a fantastical dream.
The artist is known for her dreamy images of women, which line up nicely with the aesthetic of Gucci’s head designer Alessandro Michele, who has imagined a whimsical portrayal of family life where two kids, who happen to be Petra’s cousins, go on a surreal voyage, abandoning reality for an eccentric dream, going from the countryside to a traditional Budapest bathhouse.
The video starts with the kids stealing grandma’s oversized eyeglasses. That takes them into a world of colourful dreams, displaying the brand’s outrageous new ‘Hollywood Fever’ eyewear collection: stunning models with crystal clusters, such as cat’s eye sunglasses, oversized acetate sunglasses with studs, and round-frame acetate sunglasses.
