A popular legend about Elliot - confirmed by the singer in Rolling Stone Magazine in 1968 - is that her vocal range was improved by three notes after she was hit on the head by some copper tubing while walking through a construction site behind the bar where The New Journeymen were playing in the Virgin Islands. These oversized eyewear, an homage to the woman with the robust range, are comprised of 4 different sized hand painted black ceramic flowers, and are as big and beautiful as the singer who died tragically of heart failure at just 32.
